One Micron to 100 microns is the typical tolerance range of our Ultra Precision Machine Work. While we have the usual 4 axis precision machining centers, super precision CNC lathes & plunge/sink EDM, it is our 5 Axis Machining Centers & 5 Axis Wire EDM which gives additional capabilities. We have experienced specialists in programming, fixture design and development to perform true ultra precision machining work.
Ultra-precision requires our machinists to possess a deep understanding of a machine’s behavior – not just programming and running it. Our machinists’ familiarity with their machines give them the ability to push the machines beyond the manufacturers’ intended design/tolerance capabilities, if needed. Proper temperature control compensation curves and control are also integral to ultra-precision machining and we have developed processes to achieve practically impossible levels of perfection.

Additionally, proper temperature control compensation curves are integral to ultra-precision machining and we have developed processes to achieve what was previously thought practically impossible.
Wire EDM stands for electrical discharge machining, but it might as well stand for extremely difficult machining because the applications best suited for this process are those characterized by extremely exacting tolerances that would be difficult or impossible to handle with any other material removal process.
Because EDM Machining is a no-contact and stress free process, it is also well suited for making fragile parts usually unable to take the stress of a normal CNC machining process (printer hammers, graphite electrode, miniature gears and any part that features tough-to-machine honeycomb shapes).
Our wire EDM engineers can achieve a one micron positional accuracy, and wire EDM walls as thin as 0.010” (.254mm)

We perform Ultra precision machining using 5 Axis CNC Machines, Multi-Axis Swiss Machines, Super Precision Lathes with live spindles, micron accuracy Wire EDM Machines and Sink/RAM/Plunge EDMs.
Our Fine Wire EDM machines can offer ½ micron positional accuracies with 6Ra to 16 Ra surface finishes. We have one thousandth (.001”) wire capabilities, offering .001” ( .0254 mm ) corner radii. While it is truthful and nice to be able offer .001’ wire capability, we would caution you that it is extremely expensive and not usually necessary in 99% situations.
Our 3, 4 and 5 Axis CNC Machining Centers can offer 5-micron ( .000197" ) machining accuracy.
Precision Wire Cut Machining offers excellent positional accuracies. In certain special applications, our technicians are able to offer ½ micron (0.00002") hole-to-hole positional accuracy. We also offer .001” (.0254mm) diameter wire. We find that .002” (.0508 mm) to .006” (.1524 m) diameter wire cut machining is more commonly requested by our customers. Our precision wire cut machining process offers excellent corner radius control, as close as .0015” (.0381mm).
Our wire cut machines are specially built for us with 0.1 micron glass scale resolution. We have also equipped them with a submersible rotary indexer to offer true 5 axis wire cut machining. True, we do not get too many requests for the true rotary axial precision wire cut work, but some of our telecommunications customers have found it to be invaluable in cost savings.
